Certified Professional Medical Coder

KWB Pathology Associates is seeking an experienced Pathology Certified Professional Medical Coder to join our team! We are a 100% pathologist-owned laboratory that has served the greater Big Bend area of Florida for over half a century. We strive for excellence in caring for our patients, clients, and employees.  

This position will initially be onsite at our location in Tallahassee, FL, but it may become hybrid after six months.  Pay will be commensurate with experience. 

The hours are Monday – Friday, 8:00 am – 5:00 pm.  

Education/Experience: 

● High school diploma or equivalent required 

● Two years’ Pathology coding experience required 

● Five or more years coding experience preferred 

● AAPC certification required 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: 

● Knowledge ICD-10, HCPCS and CPT coding guidelines 

● Knowledge of basic human anatomy 

● Proficient in medical terminology 

● Must successfully pass a drug screen and background check. 

Primary Responsibilities/Functions: 

● Providing correct ICD10 and CPT codes and modifiers for all pathology services 

● Educating physicians on documentation requirements for proper coding 

● Posting charges, insurance payments and patient payments 

● Verifying eligibility 

● Filing insurance claims, working denials through to completion and filing appeals      

● Completing electronic deposits 

● Collections

Full-Time Histology Technician 

KWB Pathology Associates, a unique 100% pathologist-owned laboratory located in Tallahassee, Florida, is seeking a Full-Time Histology Technician to join our esteemed team! We have proudly served the greater Big Bend area of Florida for over half a century, striving for excellence in caring for our patients, clients, and employees.

Sign on bonus with a one-year commitment.

We have two positions open.  Hours are Monday – Friday 4:30 am – 12:30 pm or 9:00 am – 5:00 pm.    

​

Education/Experience:

● Current Florida Histotechnician or Histotechnologist license or HT or HTL (ASCP) certification required (if not licensed, will need to obtain in the first month of employment)

● Two years’ Histotechnician experience preferred

Duties and Responsibilities:

● Processing, embedding, and cutting of tissue specimens

● Staining and cover-slipping of slides

● Performing special and immunohistochemical staining procedures

● Performing frozen section procedures

● Labeling, correlating, distributing, and filing slides

● Performing and documenting quality control

● Reagent maintenance and cleaning of processors and stainers

● Other laboratory duties as assigned

Physical Requirements:

● Lifting, carrying, pushing up to 25 lbs

● Standing, kneeling, bending

● Repetitive motion tasks for extended periods

● Ability to discern color

● Ability to work with/around laboratory chemicals/fumes
